Why Do We Feel So Alone?

Have you ever been surrounded by people... and still felt alone?

It's a strange feeling, isn't it?

We're more connected than ever. We can text, call, video chat, and scroll through hundreds of updates from people every day. Yet many of us still carry a quiet sense of loneliness. Maybe it's because being connected isn't the same as being known.

This week on Raised on Faith, Josh and I had an honest conversation about why so many adults feel isolated and what it takes to build genuine community again.

The truth is, most of us aren't choosing loneliness. We're simply drifting into it.

This Week’s Reflection

As kids, friendship happened naturally. We sat next to someone in class. We joined the same team. We played in the same neighborhood.

As adults, life changes. Careers get busy. Families grow. Responsibilities pile up.

Before long, weeks turn into months, and months turn into years without making a new friend or investing in the ones we already have. But community isn't something we stumble into. It's something we build. It often starts with one small act of courage.

Sending the text. Making the phone call. Inviting someone to coffee. Checking in on a friend you've been meaning to reach out to.

Most meaningful friendships don't begin with deep conversations. They begin with consistency.

"Two are better than one... If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." — Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

God didn't design us to carry life alone. Maybe this week, He's inviting you to take the first step toward someone else.

In this episode, we explore the loneliness so many adults experience and why meaningful relationships seem harder to build than ever before.

We talk about how convenience has quietly replaced community, why many people drift into isolation without realizing it, and how friendship becomes intentional as we grow older.

Most importantly, we discuss what it looks like to rebuild community in a world that often leaves us feeling disconnected.

If you've been longing for deeper relationships or wondering why you feel alone even in a crowded room, we hope this conversation reminds you that you don't have to stay there.

Prayer for the Week

Lord,

Thank You for creating us to live in community with one another.

Forgive us for the times we've allowed busyness, fear, or comfort to keep us isolated.

Give us the courage to reach out, the humility to let others in, and the wisdom to build relationships that encourage us to follow You more closely.

Help us become the kind of friend who reflects Your love and remind us that no one was meant to walk through life alone.

Amen.

Thank you for being part of the Raised on Faith family.

This week, don't wait for community to find you. Take the first step. Someone may be waiting for it more than you know.

Until next week,

Chris & Josh
